  • The Last Several Weeks

About two weeks ago, I spent a week in Owensboro with Daniel, Brittany, and Zade.  It was so much fun and very relaxing.  I got to see people that I haven't seen in years, watch a Red Wings game (which they won) with Daniel, go shopping with Brittany, and hang out with my little nephew Zade.  It is so fun listening to him talk now.  He calls me "Aunt Sissy", his version of Susie, and calls my Daniel Uncle Bo-Bo, his version of D-Bro.  He has a great personality too.  Thanks to Daniel, Brittany, and Zade for a great vacation.

Since being home I have achieved and maintained several goals that I made after watching Brittany in her home.  She is a great example of running a house and was able to give me some really good tips on being more efficient and organized.  So far, its going great on this end.  Thanks, Brittany.

Yesterday, a friend had to go to parent/teacher meetings so I took her and all five of her kids to McDonalds.  Then we dropped her off at the school and the kids and I continued on to a local park that is right on the Hudson River.  It is beautiful.  It was bright and sunny and in the high 70's.  We were there for about an hour and then we went to pick their mom up.  After we got her, I took them all out for ice cream.  It was so much fun.  That night their whole family came over and the kids had a riot playing in a huge dirt pile in the backyard.  We just had pizza and hung out.  It was so nice.  By the end of the night I was a little burned on my arms, and the muscles in my upper legs were sore from the teeter-totter.  It was a very uneven balance and I did all the work.

Today I spent the morning on a machine moving dirt while Daniel was on another machine doing the same.  Then I went to a Little League softball game to watch a couple of young kids from church play.  It was very sunny and in the 80's.  It was soooo hot.  When I got home, I got back on a machine and worked for several more hours.  It was windy now so the dirt was blowing and sticking to me since I had suntan lotion on.  When we were finished, Daniel went for a 10 mile run and I rode my bike with him.  Needless to say, the shower never felt so good.  Now we are eating bananas, and broccoli, a sweet potato casserole and drinking a lot of gatorade.

      This has been my life...

  • Medical Update For Those Who Are Interested

In the last post I told you that I was having blood tests done to figure out what all my symptoms are from.  All the tests came back normal so I went back to talk to my doctor and he basically told me that I'm depressed.  That scared me.  For so long I've always correlated depression with Spiritual problems and people who are a not quite right in the head.  I told him I didn't want to start on an anti-depressant first thing so he said lets try focusing on the sleeping difficulties and put me on Rozerem for that.  It works like Melatonin and just settles your mind so you can sleep.  It does not knock you out.  The first couple of nights I fell asleep pretty well, but still woke up between 3-4 and never went back to sleep properly.  Last night I didn't even fall asleep until 5 am and our alarm goes off at 6.  It got me to thinking more about following my doctors suggestion, and after talking to some people I realize depression is actually a chemical problem in the brain that can affect the Spiritual side of things as well as physical, emotional, and mental aspects of life.  Tomorrow I will be going back to my doctor to talk about starting on a medication for it.  I would be very excited if it helped.  I will keep you updated.

     Until next time...

  • Why do I need a title?

Lately, it has been a bit crazy around here.  Daniel has taken up running again, which is great for him.  Since the weather has gotten nicer, it is more enjoyable.  I hope to start riding my bike with him while he runs.  I never have been and probably never will be a runner.

He works most nights and Saturdays for his second job of consulting.  We are very thankful for it since he recently took a paycut at work.  We are just greatful that he wasn't one of the 30 people layed off.  Two men on his team were so we have a lot to be thanful about.  Last night we had one of his co-workers and his wife over for supper.  We had such a good time.  They are Christians and we had fun playing games and even had devotions with them.  I made Irish Stew, a salad, Kentucky Butter Cake, and Bread for supper.  I killed the bread though.  I made the water too hot when I put it in with the yeast mixture and killed the yeast.  It tastes good, but it is VERY dense.  As it turned out, Rick (coworker) likes it better that way and it was good for dipping in the stew.

Recently I had blood work done to see what is going on with me.  I am hoping we find something soon because I can sleep all night and wake up tired.  Then I take a nap and I'm still tired.  I'm tired of being tired.  We will see what happens.

Today it is beautiful and warming up...until next time!

  • Thank you Lord!

Thank you Lord for bringing Mom through the last 8 months.  It was a difficult path for her to take...even the whole family, but especially her.  We haven't always appreciated her like we should, but we all know that she is so important to us and our families.  We love her so much.  Thank you for bringing her through the chemo treatments as well as the radiation treatments.  Thank you for minimizing her side effects and even impressing the doctors with how well she did.  Thank you for giving her the strength to get through each day especially the days she had to travel into town every day to get the treatments.  Thank you for giving Dad and Catie to her to support her and be there for her when the rest of us couldn't be there.  I so appreciate them.  But Lord, even more than all of that, THANK YOU for prolonging her life and allowing her to be here a while longer to be a wife, mom, sister, and grandma.  Amen.

    WE LOVE YOU MOM
